People these days love to talk about “Functional Fitness”.
Let me be clear…
There is a difference YUUUGE (Trump Voice) difference between “Fun” and “Functional”
The MAJORITY of people that talk about “Functional Training” actually mean “Fun”.
These Fitness Industry “aficionados” are asking you do to things like jump rope on a bosu ball, twisting side, trying to touch your nose each rep while saying “Sally sells seashells down by the sea shore” as many times as you can in a minute.
That’s an exaggeration, but you get my point.
Things like this may be challenging, “fun”, and may exhaust you, but it’s the furthest thing from what people need and what actual “Functional Training” is.
Simply put, true “Functional Training” consists of the main “Big Lifts”
- Back Squat
- Front Squat
- Overhead Squat
- Vertical Pressing (Shoulder Press)
- Vertical Pulling (Pull Up)
- Horizontal Pulling (Rowing)
- Horizontal Pressing (Bench Press)
I can’t stress this enough, PERFECTING THESE MOVEMENTS is the easiest and quickest route the body of your dreams.
It doesn’t matter if you’re looking to burn fat, build muscle, bulk up, slim down, prevent injury, or just get in shape; these movement are what you need to focus on.
Focusing on these lifts will
- Improve mobility
- Create structural balance
- Reduce injuries (Yes, deep squats and deadlifts REDUCE INJURIES)
- Burn more fat, and…
- Build more muscle
There’s a problem though…
Most people don’t know how to do these movements, how to progress them, and how to make a workout plan specifically for THEIR INDIVIDUAL GOAL.
That’s where we (ERA Fit) come in.
